Secondary Schools' Track & Field 

Double Olympic 4x100m silver medallist Emmanuel Calendar (Memphis Pioneers) was second in the 60m finals at the New Mexico Cherry & Silver Meet in 6.65. Micah Ballantyne (Adam State/North Gate) finished in sixth in 8.86. Guevara was 7th in the 60m semifinals in 6.86 but did not compete in the finals. Calendar was victorious in the 60m sprint at the Martin Luther King Jr Invitational in New Mexico on January 14 in 6.72.

Akanni Hislop (Bishops High/Zenith) and Xavier Mulugata (Fatima/Memphis Pioneers) made their collegiate debut for Louisiana State University. Hislop finished fifth in the men's 60m finals in 6.90 at  the Auburn Invitational. Mulugata helped LSU to victory in the men's 4x400m relay (3:14.24). Dominique Williams (San Juan Secondary/Abilene Wildcats) was sight in the women's 200m in a indoor personal best of 24.09. The Alabama University student as part of her school's 4x400m team which finished second in 2:36.54. Khemani Roberts (Signal Hill Sec/Kaizen Panthers) missed out on a top three finish in the women's high jump at the Terrapin Invitational in College Park, Maryland on Saturday (Jan 21). The Coppin State student cleared 1.58m to finished in fourth. She was also ninth in the 60m hurdles (9.60). Her 1.58m effort was short of her 1.70 clearance in winning at the CNU Holiday Open  in Virginia on December 12.

Tsai-Anne Joseph (St. Francois Girls/Abilene Wildcats) was fourth in the women's 200mat the Missouri Invitational in Colombia, Missouri in Friday (January 20). The Missouri University student crossed the line in 25.89. She was also eighth in the 60m finals in  7.82 (7.81 in the heats).

Double Olympic 400m & 4x400m bronze medallist and World Championships 4x400m silver medallist Lalonde Gordon won the men's 200m at eh Great Dane Classic in Staten Island, New York on January 14 in 20.95.

Richards, Solomon and Denoon win in US Indoor meets

T&T's Jereem Richards (ASJA Boys/Abilene Wildcats), Jarrin Solomon (Memphis Pioneers) and Zakiya Denoon (Speyside High/Zenith) were winners on the US Indoor circuit over the weekend.  Jereem sped to gold in the men's 200m at the Auburn Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama on Saturday (January, 21) in 20.57 seconds (personal best). The 2016 Rio Olympics selectee finished ahead of 2009 World Championships 400m  bronze/2015 World Championships  4x400m silver medalist  Renny Quow (Scarborough Sec/Zenith) who was third in 21.32. Richards' winning time is the fastest in the world. The student of Alabama University is now the fastest on the NCAA rankings and clocked the second fastest time in his University's history. London Olympic 4x400m bronze/2015 World Championships 4x400m silver Jarrin Solomon took the men's 400m crown at the New Mexico Cherry & Silver Meet in Albuquerque, Mexico on Friday January 20 in 47.21 with another T&T athlete Asa Guevara (QRC/Abilene Wildcats) in second (47.36). Guevara also helped his UTEP university team to gold in the 4x400m in 3:10.45.  Denoon raced the women's 60m crown at the NYC Gotham Cup in Staten Island New York on January 20 in a time of 7.50 seconds.
