The Alabama University trio of Jereem Richards (ASJA Boys), Williams (San Juan Sec) and Ruebin Walters (East Mucurapo Sec) sped to gold at the Bob Pollock Invite in Clemson, South Carolina. Richards took the men's 400m race in 46.37 (personal best) while Williams secured the ladies 400m title (54.17). Richard also helped Alabama to victory in the women's 4x400m (3:36.91) while Richards was part of his school's victorious men's 4x400m team (3:07.67). Walters ran away with the men's 60m hurdles finals in 7.83 in his first race for his new school. He previously competed for Central Arizona.
Marisa Gale (St. Augustine University), Che Richards (Edinburgh University and Carisa Leacock-Sayon (Bishops Anstey) were also winners. Gale took the women's 200m at the Darious Dixon Memorial in Lynchburg, Virginia in 24.91 sec. She was also a member of her school's triumphant 4x400m team (3:48.08). Richards copped the Scottish men's long jump crown in Glasgow, Scotland with 7.53m (equal pb). Leacock-Sayon took the women's long jump crown at the Black & Gold Premier in Iowa City, Iowa. The Bishops Anstey graduate had a best leap of 5.9m1.
Double World Championships medalist Renny Quow was second in the men's 600m at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston, Massachusetts (Jan 28) in 1:17.50. Sterlin Paul (Abilene Christian) finished runner up in the men's 800m at the J.D. Marin Invite in Norman, Oklahoma in 1:58.14. Aaron Lewis (Bishops High) was third in the men's 60m hurdles at the Patriot Games in Virginia in his debut meet for Coppin State University. Lewis clocked 8.32 in the finals after running 8.24 in the heats. He was also seventh in the 200m (23.14).
Kevin Roberts (St. Benedicts/Tiffin), Peli Alzola (St. Francois Girls/Western Kentucky), Haysean Cowie-Clarke (SSS & BHS/Coppin State), Jessica King (Holy Name Convent/Abilene Christian),Kevin Roberts (St. Benedicts/Tiffin), Jada Barker (Corpus Christi/Bemidji State) and Khemani Roberts (Signal Hill Sec/Coppin State) recorded top eight finishes.

Olympic and World Championships medalist Lalonde Gordon led a flurry of outstanding performances by T&T athletes on the US and European Indoor track and field circuit. Gordon, the 2012 Olympic men's 400m/4x400m bronze medallist raced to double gold in the men's 200m and 400m at the John Terrier Invite Meet in Boston Massachusetts on the January 28. The 27 year old took the 200m in 20.49 seconds, a new personal best and joint world leading time. His 200m victory was his fifth in the past seven editions the meet after he won in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2016. In the 400m he raced to the top spot in 46.14 sec. Jeminise Parris (St. Francois Girls) and Portious Warren (St. Augustine Sec) were also double champions for Central Arizona at the Paradise Valley Invite in Pheonix, Arizona (Jan 28) Parris took the women's 60m hurdles (8.77 sec )and 200m (25.45 sec). The 2013 Carifta champion then helped Central Arizona to victory in the women's 4x400m (3:55.57). Warren copped the women' shot put (15.46) and weight throw (16.49m). The double win is the second for Parris in her first season at Central Arizona after she copped the women's 60m flat (7.89) and 60m hurdles (8.94) at the Puma Indoors on January 20. Warren also won the shot put (15.43) and was second in the weight throw (15.44) at that meet.
